Who has time to look at the past when the future is right in front of us? Fashion is not something to be taken lightly. It is the difference between being a fashion victim or a fashion heroine. 50 Burpees 50 Days

I can't tell you how tired I have been. I was recently diagnosed with having 3 abdominal hernias and a 6 week recovery surgery is coming up soon (thus which I postponed as far out as possible shame on me). I can't do intense workouts the way I used to, and I feel it. Sometimes we need to remember that there are alternatives and part of being healthy means being creative. I have exercise ADD so I get tired of one workout easily. So something quick and intense that maximizes my results is just what I love.

I heard of the 50 burpees for 50 days challenge and I am starting today. I can't workout the way I want but combining these 50 burpees throughout the day for quick short bursts of a workout should be perfect for my limited routine. I combine this with cardio such as walking and bike riding and I should start to see weight loss results in no time as long as I match it with a healthy diet. My point is don't be afraid to experiment and never, ever become sedentary. You deserve a great healthy body. Operative word...being "healthy".

I was watching Oprah on her new network and she was discussing a gentleman who had lost over 200+ lbs and she said he did it "one meal at a time, one workout at a time, one day at a time".

Don't knock it till you try it! I mean don't be afraid to buy vintage or consignment. In an industry where the trickle down effect makes fashion trendy not stylish why not strive to be unique? The trickle down effect is a fashion term meant to say that when fashion designs come out they are exclusive. Only a certain person could afford it, a person of wealth. Over time the style trickles down to every day consumers such as the working and middle class thus it becomes trendy, everyone has it and everyone is wearing it. What I love about vintage and consignment shopping is that at times you pay less, more than likely no one will be wearing that item thus you are not affected by the trickle down effect, and finally it allows you to be creative and have fun. I feel like a barbie doll and I get to play dress up when I am vintage and consignment shopping.

Recently I found this silk blue top. Nothing fancy about it. But that is what I loved about it! It was simple enough that my accessories had a simple palette to shine off of. The shirt cost me $4.00 and then I also found a belt that was also $3.00. I tied this look together in 3 different ways to show you that vintage and consignment fashions are worth it.

The first look showcases some high end Silpada Jewelry with the vintage shirt. The second look showcases the high end Silpada Jewelry, and the vintage belt. The last look was tied together with a velvet royal blue jacket that had a bright green lining and yellow details inside (trust me its gorgeous) the lining is silk. I wore the look with dark jeans, and had fun with the fall boots that were a wonderful cream color with yellow under tones.

Fashion is fun. You may make faux pas but that's OK. Learn more about your style, your body and have fun. Fashion is meant to enhance your life not make it complicated. In addition when you look good on the outside you feel good on the inside.

I have a lot of red in my home. If it were up to me I would have pink everywhere, a full on shabby chic-gasm in my home but my husband and son wouldn't appreciate it. So red is my color. In the world of feng shui it red stands for prosperity. Trust me all I ever want is prosperity. So red is in beautiful abundance in my home in hopes of continued attraction of prosperity. I wonder how many of us hold on to the things that make us feel good? This is one of the things that brings me joy.

I hate my lashes. I loved them when I was younger they were full. Now they are slowly thinning and that scares the heck out of me because as you may know I turned 30! I am YOUNG and now I appreciate my age. But moving on I always want full, sexy lashes without the falsies you know? I am a mom and a wife and as much as I want to be a hot, sexy goddess, mommy, homemaker I sometimes don't have time for falsies and I want to look fab in my own skin and my own thin lashes. So moving on here is my top pick for several reasons but the main one I look like a doll! Full lashes, fringed, wide-eye look and a cute as pie. Today is Sunday for many the day of rest for others a day to find spirituality. As I am about to turn 30 I realize that faith is something we all need to hold on to. Finding that spirituality that comfort and being held in faith and goodness is a must. Life can throw curve balls but when you have something great to hold onto its easy to knock them out of the ball park.

Monday has come and I am confident in where life is taking me. I know that for many 30 is no big deal but for me it is. I had a lot to accomplish by 30, and so much that wasn't. Yet there is so much that has happened that I would never take back or regret because I am exactly where I am meant to be. I still find though my weaknesses are not having the strength to fight for myself sometimes because of what I stand for and what I do for a living. I take my name and who I am very seriously and sometimes they say it is lonely at the top. They say when you reach success sometimes you lose friends, and people. It is a sad reality but one that must only mean I am doing something right. It has come with great pains but ones that I am OK with because of the hard work I did. When you work hard at something you appreciate it more.

The one thing I think women fail to do is prepare for the time they are 30. I mean financially stable. I urge women to prepare themselves to be able to take care of themselves. So important. Just a tidbit I think many of us should realize. Create a savings plan to create a nest egg for your future. If you haven't by the time you are 30 then start asap honey, you deserve a great retirement with no worries.

The day came in quietly. I woke up late, whether you believe this or not I never get to sleep in so AMEN to peace! I slept in and woke up to being surrounded by my family. The day was spent with good eats, good movies, and good family time. I felt love, I felt warm, I felt that my life was at peace and suddenly I realized the greatest thing about 30 and I was no longer afraid. I realized that no matter how many times I had been broken. That no matter what I went through. That it didn't matter if I had no one to believe in me. For the first time I believed in myself. For the first time I knew I was strong enough to go through anything. I realized that I had become unbreakable. Through becoming unbreakable I was surrounded with peace and love in the perfect place...the heart of my husband and son. I was 30 and happy. To answer the big question do you feel different at 30? YES! and Damn Proud of IT!

I attended Fashion's Night Out to a city that was more alive than I had ever seen it. When Fashion hits New York City it is not a game it is a full fledged adventure that catapults you into arenas of fashion innovation and pulls together people from all walks of life. The city became a runway that you couldn't escape. Rockefeller center was amazing and I couldn't help but feel proud of who I was, where I came from and who I was becoming. I was confident in my style, my body and proud to be a New Yorker experiencing all that fashion meant to me. See I can remember periods in my life as references not solely based on the events but from what I was wearing. My security blanket has been fashion, beauty and all things lifestyle.

What most don't know is that I went back to school to enhance my company. I attend the School of Fashion at the Academy of Art University. What is even cooler about my life experiences is that our Director is Famous Fashion Illustrator Gladys Perint Palmer. Her Illustrations were splashed all over NYC Fashion Week as the official design that were found on all of the promotions. I attend a workshop with amazing people like Ellen Sears, Iliana Rickets, and Nelson Cantada who are designers, and also directors for the school of fashion. I get my portfolio reviewed and get nothing but great feedback and great constructive thoughts. I also get to stand next to Glady Perint Palmer who in person is charismatic and warm and makes you feel comfortable. We are reminded how lucky we are and that our world is different when fashion takes precedence in your life.

Later that evening I attend Mercedes Benz New York Fashion Week and Fall in love at the Academy of Art University 8pm Show at Lincoln Center. I see the most beautiful aesthetics from new and groundbreaking designers like Lisa Nguyen, Jen Chen, Sun Young Youn, Juhyun Vivi Park, Dipti Irla, and David Doerr. Womens and Mens Designs that make you feel so alive with the richness of textures and colors. Before the show began everything was buzzing, all was building and then show began with amazing beats and rhythms that brought your attention not to the swaying of your body but the step of each model.

At the end I find myself standing next to Project Runways season 9 Becky Ross and Cecilia Matwani and Becky Ross touches my faux leather jacket and says "oooh this is nice" I can't help but smile and say thank you in love with all that they symbolize to me "Fashion". Fashion motivates you to want to look and feel better so that is one of the main reasons I dive into it wholeheartedly.

I rest from the previous days adventures and realize that rest is something I will always need. Sometimes life kicks our.... pardon my dirty language but it is needed here...life sometimes kicks our ass! I rest in my mothers Penthouse in New York City and realize that life kicked my ass and now I needed to rest and find rejuvenation. I am from humble beginnings born and raised in New York City I grew up in the Bronx so trust me when I say that having a gorgeous view from a Penthouse apartment is a blessing in my book. I rest and realize how lucky I am and thank God in my sleep.

Sad remembering 911 but I say a prayer for everyone and am thankful that 10 years later NYC stands strong. I also go to close some chapters in my life when I see my fathers father, my grandfather who is 80 years old and not in the best health. See I have not seen that side of my family for many years. I needed closure and I bring my mother in tow. We both needed some chapters closed. My mother is a good person and her good heart reminds me that I can forgive and move on. I do and am thankful for the last goodbye. I also remember how proud I am to be a Cuevas (my married name).

I am at peace. I take my time at the airport and bask in my travel. I am thankful yet again. I am stronger, calmer and I have learned that at 30 you forget about the crap and you care about more important things. I feel that I am done with anyone and anything negative and it consumes me with positive energy. I arrive to find my son doing a dance at the end of the walkway excited to see me and then I realize why exist.

30 Days Til 30: Home is Where the Heart Is

Simply put home is where the heart is. As I worked Fashions Night Out and documented it I didn't enjoy it with my team I enjoyed it with my mother. What a blessing and what a joy to take in New York City on one of the nights where it vibrated with energy. To share it with my mom was even better. See as I have gotten older I realized home is where the heart is.

After all of the festivities I sat down in my room and Skyped with my husband and son. It brought me joy to see their beautiful faces through the computer screen. They were close to me even if they were hundreds of miles away. Knowing that all of riches in the world. All of the wisdom that comes with age. Nothing comes close to having the confirmation that you are nothing without your family. I was thankful and realized that as I turn 30 that family is an important part of it. Making time for them.

Also knowing that family doesn't necessarily mean blood relatives but people that love you and you love back. People that care about you and that you care just as deeply about right back. Build a family, a support system to share the joys with and your heart, your spirit and your life will be that much richer.

30 Days Til 30: Opening Up Yourself to Opportunities

First I have to show you my outfit. Don't you love it? I love this faux leather brown jacket, the copper earrings my fiery cheetah print top. This is the look I told you about yesterday. Safari is just one of the fun looks that are in season for fall. I have been stripped of all insecurities and I am feeling beautiful in this skin. I was thanking Natasha Bedingfield and Jessica Simpson for creating some awesome girl power theme songs.

But moving on 30 days til 30 is my adventure and my 30 days of telling you about what I have learned before I turn 30 and what I have learned after I turn 30. I have spent many years worried about what people think about me. I mean the fact is that it is important if you are an Entrepreneur whose name is her brand and who is in the media at all times. But how much does it really matter. I want to be liked, I hope you like me and it means a lot to me.

But realistically that fear of not being liked is something that comes with immaturity. I had to outgrow that stage. I had to take a look at myself and see if who I am was OK. I have to tell you I think I am OK. I try to live life with the motto of doing unto others as I would want done unto me. I have heard that 10% of the people you meet are not going to like you. But think about the other 90% that do. Shouldn't the people's opinion that matter most to you mean the most to you.

I learned that when I cared about what people thought I missed opportunities. I was not open to what the God and the Universe had in store for me. I was in a negative state of mind that killed my business savvy chica mojo. What I did such as creating a lifestyle company that focused on women and empowering them to look and feel great was failing them and myself because I took the bad things that people said and never took in the good that had to be heard.

I want you ladies out there to surround yourself with nothing but positiveness. Seek out those who want to uplift you and who you want to do the same for. I think that if you do this and practice at it you will mature, become wiser and master the art of never missing an opportunity because you will be forever open to it. What I have learned as I am about to turn 30 is I do matter and I have a voice. With my voice and with my strength I have had the courage not to care what people think and I have opened myself up to amazing opportunities, case in point being able to tell you that you are wonderful and you deserve great opportunities.

30 Days Til 30: The Prowess in Me Finds a Home Fashion

Today all I could think about were my travels to New York City. It's my hometown but I do not currently reside there. While I am there one of the things I will be doing is closing some chapters. See I have been estranged from some of my father's side of the family for a long time. Part of growing older and wiser means closing chapters and accepting that you can't change others actions but you can definitely change yours. Every family has drama and mine stems deep into my roots and the things that leave us questioning where we really come from and who we are. I had to find strength to be able to move past certain things. I found the great things in them and realized the past is better left in the past. I am stronger today because my fast motivated a better future. I look forward to seeing my great grandfather (my deceased fathers dad). I look forward to letting who I am today motivate them to see that I am a success in my own rite and that I accept them for who they are as they will accept me for who I am.

But moving on truth be told all of this drama, travels and work leaves you exhausted and in need for comfort to get through it all. I began searching for a comfortable outfit that would bring me style and a killer look that made you know exactly the kind of strength I had. It may sound silly that a piece of clothing can do so much but it can. Today I found my inner prowess in a set of amazing dark black tights, a now wait for it...yes a Walmart Cheetah print Tunic from Tina Knowles, amazing copper earrings and a faux leather brown jacket.

I won't show you all of the look today until I sport it tomorrow then you can get the full effect. But know this it sounds strange but this piece of clothing, this cheetah print tunic was loose fitting yet body hugging on the hips. The print on the shirt was larger on top and became smaller as it cascades down the front. Now animal print is tricky which is why I didn't purchase the white one you see here I purchased the exact same one in black with the cheetah design in a golden copper color.

Whatever it is that makes you find your inner prowess to conquer turning 30 (like me) or closing chapters in your life, mending broken bridges find it and hold onto it. Even if it is finding comfort and a home in Fashion. No matter what it is it may give you an inner strength you never knew existed and most of all it will help you move on and feel great while doing so.

30 Days Til 30: Adventures in The Big Apple

I love writing about New York City because I go there often, IT IS the Fashion Capital of the world, it is all that I love art, culture, and more. New York City is all that I embody and not because of the things that I love but because it is where I was born and raised. As I am about to turn the big 30 I have spent the year if I may be honest dreading that number. So as I come to terms with turning the big 30 I wanted to share my journey, my lessons and the transitions I have gone through to be the woman I am today. If it helps you I am honored. If it bores you I am sorry. If it brings you joy I am happy. Every day for the next 30 days until I turn and a few days after I turn 30 I will give you a play by play of what leaving my 20's and entering my 30's has done for me.

It seems I should start in the place where I was born and come from, the Big Apple. I have a few really great adventures coming up this week in New York City and I feel overjoyed because one of the things I learned about life is that you need to count your blessings and live, love laugh everyday. I will be going to New York City Fashion Week and I just love it. I love everything that is beauty and fashion. I guess I have to admit that I am counting my blessings and this is one of them. I plan on living, loving and laughing my way through New York City for the next 5 days in the Big Apple.

The Only Girl in the World Who…

Sometimes you feel like you are the only girl in the world who is about to turn another year older and it’s hard to come to terms with that. Sometimes you feel like you are the only girl in the world that is hated by at least 10% of the people you meet. Sometimes you feel like the only girl in the world that isn’t pretty enough. Sometimes you feel like the only girl in the world who isn’t good enough.

But I want you to feel like the only girl in the world who is wiser as she gets older. I want you to feel like the only girl in the world that is liked by 90% of the people you meet. I want you to feel like the only girl in the world that isn’t pretty but beautiful in so many ways. I want you to feel like you are the only girl in the world that is worth more than enough.

Self esteem is something all women battle with. We are our own worst critic. I do this to myself often and no matter how much I preach to you ladies out there to stop doing it, we all do it and its ok. It is how you decide to change that negative into a positive. It is how you start to see how full that glass is instead of how empty it is. Self reflection and acceptance is very important when it comes to living the good life, the positive life. Reflect on who you were, and where you are today and accept the bad and then embrace the good. Empowering yourself comes with loving yourself enough to give yourself more than enough.

I can sit here and tell you how I have fought very hard as a full figured fitness professional and how people have been mean. I can sit here and tell you how being a Lifestyle Coach, Writer and Entrepreneur in the beauty and fashion industry has brought me many judgments and how it hurts. I can tell you that I am often misunderstood and how I wish people judged me from knowing me and not what they hear about me. Or I can sit here and tell you how fun it has been to see women’s lives changed by my fitness help. I can sit here and tell you how adventurous it has been to travel and test out amazing beauty and fashion goodies. Or I can sit here and tell you how great it has been to meet new people that see deep inside me and what a blessing they have been in my life.

So in the end the reality is I believe in you and now I want you to believe in yourself. Give yourself more than enough.

When you are unable to focus on the positives something has changed and has shifted your life. Maybe a stressful incident has occurred. Maybe a loss, or a breakup. Whatever it may be how does a fantastic, stylish and amazing woman like yourself stay focused on the positives? It is hard and it is frustrating. Some days you would rather crawl into bed than face the facts. What has happened HAS HAPPENED. Recently I experienced some terrible turmoil. It made me question the honesty in everyone and it even scared me because I realized that people can surprise you, and even get gosh darn frightening. So how do you deal with tough situations?

My advice to you is this:

1- Take the day off. Really wallow in your worry, heartache, whatever it maybe sulk.

2- Analyze the situation and then conclude with the facts. One of them being that you can't control others but you can definitely control yours.

3- Get out of the house, or the office. Take a day to take in a movie, the sun, a makeup counter scavenger hunt. Just get away.

4- Love those that love you. The best feeling for me was hugging my 8 year old son because of his innocence and the ability he has to make me smile with a simple kiss on the cheek.

5- Jump into your passion. For me it was going back to school as an adult, as a business owner, as a mom. That is right I did it I went back to school for a Fashion Degree. I later spent that night working on my assignment. I spent an hour sketching it was scary because I had never done that before, fun and selfishly all mine.

6- Never let anyone break you. Be strong. Walk with your head up high and walk on faith! No matter where it comes from find it and hold on to it.

This will eliminate those bad vibes and help you break free.

A free woman is a powerful woman.

A makeover can be a scary experience that leaves you with a feeling of uneasiness. But my recent experience was one of pure and pleasurable delight. Thanks to the Vogue Influencer Network and the recent launch of L’Oreal’s INOA hair experience, because it is not hair color in my opinion I received a hair makeover that was better than the Calgon commercials. Stepping into Studio Twenty-8 in the heart of downtown Pensacola, Florida located at 1206 N. Palafox Street I have to tell you I felt right at home.

Studio Twenty-8 proudly has an Art Deco vibe that makes you feel like you are stepping into a really unique place. Greeted by Mary I was enamored immediately and offered a beverage of water, coffee or wine. I waited but just a few minutes until I was greeted by one of the owners and my stylist for the day Rodney. He is an adorable gentleman who was full of charisma and a surprising knowledge of this new L’oreal’s INOA hair experience. What many fail to realize is the work that goes into mastering a new color experience like L’oreal’s INOA. One must go through training and you are provided your own certification and dedicated number that you must use each time you order.

L’Oreals INOA has no ammonia, no harsh chemicals and it is a natural way of dyeing the hair. The mix is easy and already premeasured. “This will revolutionize the industry” stated Rodney with great pride and a true stylist innovator. You use a sprush to mix the contents may I add how cute a sprush is. It is a combination between a spoon and a brush and L’oreal created it just for their product. I was able to smell no product at all. I had the bowl right up to my face and can tell you that there was no odor. Do you know how when you hair is dyed and you are left with disgusting stains on your gorgeous faces and how much that pains you to have to scrub that off. Well this did not leave anything on my skin. It was somehow transparent and light. The process is rinsed off with a shampoo that has an orange scent and “I am confident this seals the process” Rodney stated. There is no conditioner following the rinse. The shampoo leaves your hair soft and clean. YES! You heard me soft, a shampoo did that to me.

I look like a movie star. I think I may just be coming to a TV near you. Ok, ok probably a YouTube near you. It was the way my hair was slightly lightened with this color and gave it this light brown color all over. My hair was dark and black and my ends had some color growth. Now my hair is soft, and beautiful and this gentle light brown hue has enhanced my skin tone and made me feel confident. It is nothing like I ever experienced but I love it and I want to do it all over again.

I can’t help but tell you about this hidden gem, this pearl in the oyster. Pensacola, Florida is a town that was affected by hurricane Ivan many years ago, and an oil spill that devastated the economy. People need certainty and you find it in Studio Twenty-8. They are this amazing studio that you step into and have no idea how large it really is. An abandoned building turned into a homely and upscale studio full of talented stylists. From younger to older everyone is really hip and Rodney is to die for. He loves what he does and takes this industry seriously. Yet there is this playful and funny side to him and he casually says “It’s like a family here. Many spouses deploy and sometimes this is all they have, we are all they have.”

Can you imagine fashionable, stylish, comfortable and full of talent and charisma. I have never seen a place like this and I love it. As you walk through OMG! There is room after room of stylists, and spa technicians. The whole time I was there I was jamming away and dancing in my chair because mood is everything and the music had today’s latest and greatest. It is a home away from home and I have to tell you I felt like the next Jennifer Lopez I went from hopeless to happening and if you want to experience true style that is everlasting Studio Twenty-8 is the place to go.

Vegas for a vow renewal was even sweeter this time. No having to mingle, no pictures, just my husband and I in our very own world experiencing love, forgiveness, appreciation, and so many more emotions as we headed out on our new journey once again. Vegas is an adult playground and it was the perfect setting. No children, just adults, fun and joy.

We fell in love again and this time it was even sweeter. I didn't have to get to know him again and want to strangle him half the time (just kidding!). Over the years I have become a stronger woman. They say behind every great man is a great woman and as a full fledged feminist I have to say this and I am humbled. Behind every great woman there is a great man. We are like the Clinton's without the whole Monica Lewinsky fiasco. In him I found home and in me he found a rockstar...ok ok there I go again ahead of myself. In me he found a home as well.

Real Housewife Life Lesson: Sharing is caring. No one wants to be alone and when you find a partner you want a partner that pushes you to your limit in a positive way, and holds you accountable for your actions. Together you can create a winning team that is unconquerable and no one can break through. Success together is sweeter than success alone.

Sadly I hate to tell you that my husband and I never had a honeymoon. We are very much workaholics and ten years ago we chose to furnish our first apartment rather than have a honeymoon. We got into a groove and worked. We have gone on numerous family vacations over the years, he travels for business, I travel for business yet we never seemed to fit a honeymoon in there. So my first night in SIN CITY was unbelievable. As a real housewife I am a juggler of a multitude of things and running my household. But I fell into a place where I had nothing to do. What the heck was I going to do with myself? Sit and enjoy a cocktail by the pool? You bet your butt I did. I never knew what taking a break was. Sadly my husband didn't either. We love work its in our blood. Heck my mother is the same way she was working from her IPHONE as soon as we got here.

But to survive and make a marriage work as a real woman, a real housewife you have to be able to stop and enjoy life. When my husband and I fell into a groove yesterday the peace of being together made me really enjoy being married again. We ran away to VEGAS because we wanted to get hitched. Even though we are married, the thought of renewing my vows makes me anxious, a bit nervous and very happy. I told my husband are you sure I will say yes this time now that I have seen who you really are. He said baby I have seen who you really are too. We are each others Pandora's box. The good, the bad, the ugly, the wonderful are all kept under lock and key in each others hearts.

Being with me takes a lot of work. I am confident and very strong. I run a business and I don't put up with stuff. Sometimes I am a ball of energy. I married my counterpart. He is calm and grounds me and never lets me give up. Being with your counterpart, finding that perfect mate does not mean giving up who you are but becoming a better you.

Sin City served up a city that is awake and vibrant. It was like walking into an actual billboard. I enjoyed relaxation, I enjoyed good eats, and I enjoyed feeling confident in my own skin with my husband. I ran away to Vegas to confirm something I already knew...I am the perfect wife and he is my perfect husband.

Life Lesson Learned: Never let anyone steer you away from who you are. When you meet that special person make sure that they are there to see you turn into something good and are patiently guiding you if you veer off course. You must do the same and put aside your insecurities and control issues. If you can do that for each other trust me you will reach nothing but the limitless sky together without conforming and becoming the woman you never wanted to be but the woman you were meant to be.

The morning sun rays tap on my window and the world welcomes me with a big sunkiss. I am inspired and elated by the day and then I walk into my closet and feel the slump of being fashionably uninspired. How can a girl have so many clothes and not have anything to wear? It sounds like a minute problem but in my world it’s a big problem. Sadly many women suffer from this ailment. It pains you and it leaves you with minutes wasted and looks never achieved. You want to tear the clothes off your rack and throw them in the garbage, grab the credit card and take on a shopaholics dream.

But the reality is we can’t do that. It is not practical. So here is what you can do to become a fashion maven. Take a plunge once a week when you have some downtime and play. Go online, look at books and magazines and create a mini portfolio of looks you want to create. Go in the closet and recreate these must haves for nothing at all. A great book is American Fashion from the CFDA. Or how about grabbing some champagne and some Sex and the City reruns…and get carried away!

I am Bonnielee and I am a reality show addict. I spend my days reading political memoirs, homeschooling, running a mini empire and saving the world (just kidding about saving the world...or am I?). I spend my nights getting fixes on the Basketball Wives multiple romances, Snookie's search for a guido, Aubrey's musical comeback and The Housewives latest fight. If I stray for longer than a day chills and sweats may appear. When the house has gone quiet I indulge in this secret addiction. Mostly because it tends to take away my stress. Secondly because you just can't stop watching.

When Real World came out in the early 90's it was a new genre of television. Who knew that it would turn our TV's into voyeuristic tools that would capture a persons every life detail. I can't say that sometimes you feel bad. I can't say that sometimes you can't stop laughing and goodness help you if you can actually pick yourself up the floor. But then I find myself fascinated that these so called foolish people are smart enough to turn it into a profitable career worth millions in a matter of episodes.

Makes me wonder would my life be an episodic hit or a flop? My days are filled with some comical, made for TV moments. I mean who wouldn't want to watch as your long lost half sister moves into your home. How a trip to the grocery store becomes a matchmaking session for your sister. Or a 30 minute girls laugh fest ensues because picking up a bottle of wine turns into a very confusing time and you haven't even started drinking a cocktail yet, and the cashier may not sell you a bottle of wine because he thinks your intoxicated from all the laughter he witnessed (yet I swear I had not had a glass of wine in weeks). Or how late night workouts sometimes begin so late that the sun is about to come up and you haven't even gone to sleep yet. You tend to get a little delusional when you wait too long to work out or workout too late in the day.

My life would probably be edited, and you would get to see only the funniest most controversial moments of my life. I definitely think I would be a Miami Housewife its closer to my culture. I could be an Alexia, who knows. But in the end I realize that I watch because they are normal people just like you and me that secretly you would never admit to anyone have similar qualities to you. Why else would you watch. There has to be something in them thats appealing that you can relate to.

So I end this with yes I am a reality TV addict. At this time there is no help for this addiction. I guess I will bare this struggle alone. Who knows one day the misadventures of Bonnielee Cuevas may be at a TV near you. I promise to make it just as juicy or even juicier!

It's Like Candy on My Face!

I received my Hourglass Cheek Stain from the Vogue Influencer Network and I have to tell you it was like candy on my face. It was pretty, sweet and demure, without the sticky stuff!

I always feel like cheek stains feel icky. It feels like I am piling stuff on my face, when all I want to do is look as natural as possible. I want to look like I wake up looking sweet and pretty every day.

My mother once told me that my father never really knew what she looked like without her makeup or hair done. She would wake up before him, fix herself up and then go and lie down again. Although I wouldn't go to that extreme. I do want to feel and look refreshed, without people knowing I had a little help from the beauty department. So needless to say this really did it for me. I have recently sat and pondered every scene that played itself out in my life.  Every "actor" I engaged with and each emotion we brought into the great play called "Mi Vida (My Life)".  Bewildered with the years that have passed me by and the fear of aging and becoming older where will all my roles go?  To the younger version of me?
Each moment is a gift that we must never take for granted.  See over the past year as I got closer to age of 30 several things happened.  I let go of the fear of losing the greatest role of my life.  Being me.  There are no substitutes. I learned that in friendships the same applies as in relationships it is better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all.  At least we had the good times to remember.
I learned that with aging comes a greater grace, elegance and beauty because you come into your own.  Style is everlasting.  Fads and trends are not to be played with but capturing your essence and defining who you are falls greatly upon the choices you make.  Now every year you should only get better like fine wine.  Beauty and style to me are important.  I love my T-shirts and Jeans on a relaxed day but the days where I am off to venture. Each bracelet pulled up my wrist, each shoe slipped on, each lip stained with lipstick is a very clear and aware decision that I make.  So clear I recently dared to play with the bitten, sweetness of red lips and it truly brightened my aura and brought forth a confidence in my own sense of style.
I have learned that success no longer falls on how much money I may make.  It comes with a yearning and great gratification of doing what I love and feeling the excitement of its accomplishment.  I was enraptured with the idea of going back to school to start a different degree.  I am too old I thought?  I am 30 how silly of me to think I could go back for a Fashion Degree.  But oh! The yearning and fire that built up within me was too great to ignore.  Like an orgasm satisfied I started the process to return and get that Fashion degree with great joy I write that I will start in June 2011.
So as I stepped forward in this new chapter, my role has only gotten better.  My stage bigger.  My audience more loyal and with grace, and elegance I prepare to bring forth one of the greatest plays of all time "Mi Vida (My Life)"

Here are the top things I love about this color. It looks good on my caramel skin tone thats a plus! Two it dried within minutes. As I was taking the snapshot of my nails I accidentally touched them and thought oh shoot...I ruined them but I was wrong. It was dry to the touch. So yes I love it and I give it many stars. I feel like a glamorous movie star each time I get these goodies and get to share with you my finds. It's hard as a glam girl to find great things that makes me look good. Fat Girl Going Slim

Fat is such a derogatory label. It's even more derogatory when we label ourselves with this term. Although some have made a beautiful art of turning this label into a word of empowerment for themselves, and for that I give you KUDOS and MUCHO credit. You got the last laugh when you made an impact by taking control of that word and how people wanted to label you.

But after my trip to NYC in December and the month of traveling that I did I weighed in at 211 and now I am weighing in at 196.7 a major feat for me. It wasn't about anyone else this time. It was me taking control, taking the loss of control of my illnesses, my emotions and not letting it run my life. There are many more changes that occur when you see yourself in such a better light. You take better care of your skin. My body is now nurtured with yummy, and delightful in shower lotions a luxury many of us see unnecessary but that I now find a must to make me feel better. The aromas bathe me in joyful scents and makes my mood much brighter.

My hair is lathered in fancy shampoos that boast salon pumps. My nails enraptured in OPI (a splurge and addiction I have always had). My skins dryness quenched with silky smooth lotion. My make up perfect to the touch. My mouth filled with foods I love but now more aware that if it is not a healthy bite I better be prepared to work off those calories later. I still fall at the feet of sweets but not as often. I passed up a cinnamon bun the other day, cake the other evening and a milkshake the other afternoon through the drive. I didn't want to bring all the boys to the yard with my shake I already had the perfect man at home and my body just didn't need an additional jiggle.

My spirit is lighter, my mind is stronger and sharper to make tough decisions in everything in life. It takes small changes. Changes that feel like climbing Mount Everest. They later feel like climbing up a long flight of stairs. But thats when I say challenge yourself and climb another mountain it keeps you sharp and on your toes.

How am I doing it? How does this fat girl go slim? I won't lie to you I go to bed late and wake up late. But I get rest. I go to bed around midnight and wake up around 8 or 9am. Thats a good 8 hours sleep. I tell people to get their workouts out of the way in the morning. But my mornings are filled with home school, client projects and writing. So I don't feel up to working out until noon. I eat breakfast or my first meal of the day. It should be your largest. I eat fruit, and only drink water. I usually have an English muffin topped with concord grape jelly and low fat peanut butter. Or sometimes its a bowl of cereal like Special K almonds with one whole banana chopped and tossed inside. I only drink fat free milk. I don't like juice. I drink water. I also don't skimp on my cereal even though I measure everything and am pretty good at eye balling because you can't walk around with a measuring cup and spoon in your purse. I think Special K cereal is awesome and for 400 calories for my breakfast that includes 2 servings of cereal with one banana and water I am full and I am ok with that.

For lunch I have become addicted...I love burgers but not the fatty greasy kind anymore. I eat Jenny-O turkey burger with spinach salad, ketchup, chopped fresh onions everything is fresh. I eat it with baked sweet potato fries. Everything is one serving of course. I also love chicken from the can...kind of like tuna. I use two large cans, add 2 table spoons of regular mayo, dried cranberries, celery, onions, a dash of pepper and salt and serve a few tablespoons of this chicken salad over spinach. This makes enough for 3 people for two days of lunch it feeds my son, husband and me for lunch for two days.

For dinner I love my cookbooks and I have had for dessert hungry girls 140 calorie homemade red velvet cupcakes and yes that includes the frosting. Or we made Italian rice balls the other day filled with low fat mozzarella made with risotto and served with baked Tilapia. By the end of the day you should be consuming less calories. My dinner has been around 300 calories with dessert about 450. That is really good for all of that food.

I weigh myself every Monday and nothing more. I keep track of my measurements. I also spend time de-stressing. I immediately feel bloated and heavier when I have stress on my heart. It does stop your progress. One of the weeks I worked out twice per day, drank water, ate healthy, had enough cardio and strength training no reason not to lose weight?! Well I did realize I had so much stress that week it was too much to take and my body felt it. We feel it. Our bodies know.

So as this fat girl goes slim know there are days when I cry because the scale cheated on me or lied to me. There are days when I smile because the sweetness of success is much better than that of a cupcake. There are also days when my body says rest and I do. It's about being realistic. I love my wine and my food. I don't deny myself anything but I don't give in so easily either. Its an adventure and I will document my journey because women need other women to support them along the way and let them know its possible.

When Viral Takes Over: Flash Mob

I was watching Life in the Fab Lane with Kimora Lee and I was taken over by our innovative generation. To promote and bring awareness to her brand KLS Kimora Lee had a flash mob. Now here are the facts about a flash mob. One it is to bring awareness to your brand. Two what makes it so innovative and fun is not that you DO NOT sit in a studio and choreograph the whole routine with a group of people. But that you begin the viral step of posting a choreographed routine video and invite people to learn it. Then give them a place and time to show up and perform what they learned. You can spread the flash mob details the day of by text as well.

Its fun, its creative and it is fabulous! Its fabulous because you pull ordinary people into this unique world. Once it goes viral it takes over and builds up your brand. But what had me amazed was not the Flash Mob but the company that was innovative enough to form their company to handle flash mobs and some of their clients include Kimora Lee, Got Milk and I believe Janet Jackson. When viral takes over there is no stopping the possibilities.

The fact is a Flash Mob is a marketing strategy that can be fun and effective. But to make it successful you want to make sure to have all your eggs in a row so that your creativeness builds your brand awareness.

Focus and Renewal

This morning i woke up bright and early to take my sister to take her fitness test for the sheriffs position in the town where i reside. I started to see men and women of all shapes,ethnicities and ages walk up to the office door and get in line for the test.

I started to think about all of the amazing feats one can accomplish when they set a goal and are finally ready for renewal. A dream, a goal cannot be accomplished until the body, mind and spirit are alined and are sick and tired of being tired. Then they align and want that renewal more than anything because they know its who they were meant to be.

See my sister is in her early twenties. She left NYC to leave a life she already knew. She left her mom, her brothers and sisters, and her career there because she was ready for renewal.

This year i gave up work overload, friends, business relationships and bad health habits because i was ready for renewal. With much focus one's life can be renewed.

STOP THE DIET! Nutrition Tips for the Real Woman

I still can't understand why its so hard for women to eat within their recommended caloric intake. I truly believe our emotions dictate a lot of what goes in our mouths. I don't know about you but I rather be kissing my husband with my mouth which is a calorie free snack that eating a chocolate cake that will double the size of my butt.

STOP THE DIET! Seriously are you going to stick to the juice diet? Or the Master Cleanse? Or 500 calories a day filled with supplement intake? Get real and start taking control of your BOCA (mouth). It's hard and it takes more than a few weeks, but then over time it becomes habit. Just like you wake up every day at the same time, brush your teeth, eat breakfast, go to work and it has become habit this can too. I promise its working for me and as a Nutrition Advisor as well I am confident it will work for you.

You first have to understand that you need to fully become one with your body. What you didn't know was that your body and mind are separate? I'm sorry ladies they are not one. Your mind tells you one thing, your body does something else, and your emotions trick both of them. Understand what works for your body. For me I know that one glass of wine won't pack on the lbs but I know when I over indulge with two glasses every other night it packs on the lbs. They become wasted calories for me. I also know that if I eat bread once per day my tummy is A OK with me. But if I eat bread more than that my tummy has a pooch. I also know that when I am stressed I swear by this it shows! It really sits on my lower abs and my pooch doubles :(. Poor me, but no excuses here. Follow some of these tips.

- Put your fork down! Do you eat and talk, and eat and eat and eat and you never put your fork down between bites. Try it and wait.

- Drink one full glass of water before you start your dinner I mean it suck it up and drink up. Its the fountain of youth and I say it over and over.

- Measure your food if you are at home. I am not kidding I have a scale and measuring cups. Until I can get visually used to my portion sizes and how many calories are in them I use them.

- If you think its too much. It is too much so stop when you are about to get full. Not when your full. Because you need to give yourself time to feel full.

- Write it down, put it in your cellphone it is mind over matter. You hate it but overtime you will see how much food you could have eaten had you not eaten that 300 calorie snickers bar when you could have had a humongous chicken salad and been full longer.

- If you are going to indulge I recommend working it out the day of. Calories in and Calories out method. Know how much you need to eat to lose weight and don't go over.

- Last but not least enjoy food. Really I love food make love to it but don't become like an obsessed ex girlfriend and stalk your food. Enjoy it and then walk away.

Bringing Sexy Back!

I have had a deep love affair with food. I am a foodie and at times every ounce of me has yearned for that warm delectable bite where it tingles all over. I fall into an orgasmic rendezvous with my food and it has loved me right back for a long time. I have always worked out and taught my fitness classes as a Lifestyle and Fitness Coach and Fitness Instructor. But hey let me tell you I am blessed to have inspired so many to feel comfortable to step into my class and shake off those lbs because of my full figured body. But at times this was not a choice it was also my own personal health struggles as they continued and still do and my lbs failed to melt away. I struggled, I hurt, I died a little each time a workout and healthy meal failed to bring down the numbers on my scale. I died even more when my emotions took the best of me and dropped me in front of food.

In December 2010 I began a master plan to bring my sexy back. Not for you, not for my husband, not for my family but hey for myself! Weighing in I jumped a little and I started strong in January 2011. 10 lbs may not seem like a lot but to me it was the start of a new love affair not with food but with myself. See I now became even more aware of every bite and the effects it has on body. I always knew it from an educational side but now I felt it deeply within myself. I became enamored with food as my fuel and indulged in every bit of it for the right reasons. Emotions no longer enrapture me in its deceitful encouragement that food can make the pain or the stress all go away.

I don't know what this bringing my sexy back adventure holds for me or how long it will take but I am having the time of my life because this time its for me and it feels good!

Royal Pains/Burning Bridges!

I was watching the show Royal Pains and in the season finale Divya decides to call off her wedding. Her soon to be arranged marriage was being hindered with all sorts of obstacles and at the very end she and her fiance are quarantined with an outbreak of pneumonia. She looks her fiance in the eyes and says we need to call off the wedding. He agrees and says lets postpone it until after this quarantine. She looks him again in the eyes and says I don't need another sign from the universe, like a swarm of locusts to tell me that we should not get married. The universe has spoken and I hear it loudly.

I recently found myself in the end of all times? Hmmm let me ponder that. Ok, NO! But I am a strong, old school believer in never burning your bridges no matter how dangerous that bridge may seem. I recently encountered a business relationship that I kept trying to nurture. It was one that failed miserably and not to sound full of myself but I am confident it was not on my part. There were all these insecurities on behalf of this business acquaintance and dare I even utter it in today's day and age a hint of prejudice as to who I am and where I come from (hope that's loud and clear). But I did not falter as I am confident in my own "Latina" skin, my success and what I have been called to do.

Well many things happened. BAD things that I knew God was just saying let it go. But I knew how valuable this business acquaintance was and could not see myself letting it go. Well when GOD speaks you better wake up and listen because he could not have been any louder when a repeat of this BAD thing happened once again. On my way home I pondered. I listened and I heard. The end of times did not have to happen. The world did not have come down crashing on me. A swarm of locusts did not have to surround me.

I realized that sometimes bridges need to be BURNED! But when you do make sure that you don't need to cross that bridge if God forbid you are ever on the way down. I also learned that if you are confident in who you are and your purpose on this earth then you are unbreakable in faith, and in God. Sometimes we need to be strong in our convictions and let no one take who we are away from us.

So as this business acquaintanceship came to a close I no longer needed to dwell. I felt free, peaceful and at ease because I heard God's message loud and clear. Be me, all of me, in him.

A Girls Guide to Politics

There are two things you should never discuss Religion and Politics. But they are sometimes quite important. I am often bewildered at the lack of knowledge women have of current events, politics and issues that affect our nation. I hate to hear smart, educated women say oh no I don't keep up with Politics, I don't get into that. Or God is in control he has us taken care of it.

From what I have learned God helps those who helps themselves. Him taking care of things should never be an excuse for you not knowing or becoming involved in things that affect your rights as a woman. Woman fought long and hard for the right to vote, the right to join our military and so much more. Use it to equip yourself with knowledge so that when God or your higher power calls you to do something great and hands you the tools for battle you already know the layout (pretty much always he already had it laid out for you to receive the plan of attack).

It's OK not to understand Politics and current events. It's not OK to use it as an excuse not to educate yourself. To know where you as a woman are going know where you come from. Know what is happening all around you now. I struggle very often with defining myself and I don't think that I should have a label but we live in a society where if you are labeled the world makes sense. So I am conservative in many ways but I believe in the human rights that we all deserve and that we all have our own right to choose. I believe in God but I am not religious I don't desire to break God down and stuff him into a little box or bear judgment on others. I believe he exists and in his miracles so that is enough for me. But I do not ever wish to take away another's belief system instead I respect them for it.

I love Politics. I do not always understand our Government and what is currently going on but I will dive in until I am blue in the Face. It amazes me because this is our country. I am proud to be an American. I am Latina but I AM AN AMERICAN. In no other country can I stand here and express my views without persecution or judgment. That is why I take my rights very seriously.

I want women to get excited about Politics and their Nation, I hate to say this but sometimes Politics are like a Real Housewives episode. So maybe during one prime time slot instead of turning the channel to Real Housewives you turn to CNN and get an hour in of what's going on in our nation. It doesn't have to all make sense but at least now you are in the KNOW.

I thought I would give you just the very, very basics of our Government, a little bit of News and Politics. Here are some things to always remember.

Art Through the Eyes of a Child: The Plus Sized Adventures of Bonnielee Cuevas

This New Year I continue to say I want to live light heartily. I want to be a child at heart. I want no worries from the world to ruin my spirit. Today I had the pleasure of taking my 8 year old son to the Museum of Modern Art. We stood in front of Van Gogh's Starry Night. So close I could breathe on it. We gave him a camera and told him to document his experience and these are the images of art through a child's eyes. My child. I am forever in love with my son and husband and nothing can take away my joy, or spirit. But his experience left me changed. He became my greater blessing, I suddenly felt honored by his presence and the ability to raise him and turn him into an amazing human being.

FYI: My husband got one great shot of him close to the very end where he let go of the camera and we were able to get a shot of him looking at an art piece.

When Life Gives You Sour Patches Go to Dylans Candy Bar: Plus Sized Adventures of Bonnielee Cuevas

I love my NYC. It is not a secret. The last time you heard from me I told you how blessed I was and how happy I was. Well life served me some seriously sour, sour patches. Instead of being bitter we went to Dylans Candy Bar store in NYC. I can't let my parade be rained on. Negative things are going to happen it's how you deal with them that ultimately defines the life you will lead.

As we arrived in NYC the blizzard started to come down. Later that day when we moved the car we got into a car accident. Then the day after we had to shovel our way into a parking spot. The list goes on from personal and professional mishaps in the course of two days! UGH break down and cry or take those nasty sour patches and indulge in the sweet things in life. I have a family friend who has amazing Karma. She is not religious nor spiritual. She just is and exists in this amazing aura of peace, love, and light heartedness. She is a no nonsense broad who is successful and again has amazing Karma.

I have to tell you I feel like I spend my whole life running away from bad luck. But what is luck? What is bad Karma? I believe it is our own manifestations. We manifest these things when we don't have the faith to continue to believe in the greatness of God, or the universe whatever it may be for you. I felt blessed but did I have faith? Maybe, maybe not. But the New Year brings me a new perspective on life, and religion, and the way I react to things. I expect greatness so I will live a life of greatness and ultimately see my good Karma.

So what life gave me sour patches!!! We decided to then indulge in the sweet things in life and we battled icy NYC streets and made our way to the sweetest place on earth...ok just nyc Dylans Candy Bar.

So today I wish you nothing but sweetness!

I can't tell you how amazing it was arriving in NYC again. I love this city. But as I arrived to my moms penthouse apartment and looked at the skyline view I was thankful for so much.

As I bring in the new year and you do too find lots to be thankful for.

I am thankful for a thriving businesses and my successes as a Womenpreneur.
I am thankful for my family, husband and friends.
I am thankful for the blessing we have had in this economic retreat to have traveled so much.
I am thankful that I am 29 going to be 30.
I am thankful for my spirituality and the love I feel from God and this universe.

It took many years as a young woman to come into my own. I even had an early life crisis after I turned 29 this year afraid and questioning all of my accomplishments.

Women do that too much. We need to learn to expect nothing but the best we deserve it.

Case in point my beautiful mother. She has always been afraid to receive her success. To receive her blessings. Let me tell you if anyone deserves greatness its this lady.

Seeing her in her most deserving beautiful, skyline filled penthouse apartment she deserves it. She has worked hard. Her humbleness allows her not to bask in it sometimes but as my husband, son and I are here with her for the New Year we are helping her with this.

So be thankful for the good and the bad of this past year and then accept, welcome, and expect nothing but great things for yourself.

As I just finished my big bowl haha! of green tea and took in a beautiful view, and am about to welcome 20 inches of snow I am thankful and blessed in NYC.

We are almost at our first destination virginia beach. There lay remnants of snow on the ground from a few days ago. I noticed my son wanted to stop at the rest areas to use the restroom quite often. I finally realized he wanted to play with the snow. I finally had to say no.

Which made me realize kids see things so innocently and in amazement. When did I stop seeing through child like eyes. When did I stop having fun.

You see I am madly and deeply in love with my hometown. I'm a city girl. I won't deny the obsession I have for this amazing city. I am biased and I fail to appreciate the town where I currently live in Florida.

See my hometown is one of the fashion and food capitals of the world. With it's massive bodies of architecture that leaves intellectual orgasms. It also excites the palates with unimaginable flavors. It never fails to create waves of iconic styles that transcends the ages and leaves us each September with the mouth watering desires of Fashion.

Then you can't fail to notice the melting pot of cultures that adds spice to an already sexy city.

So as I sit here enroute to each destination on our holiday vacation the only one that fills me up with a nostalgia and immaculate love is NYC.

My life as a business and lifestyle coach has made it much more interesting.

But during this last year in my twenties I promised myself I would document my personal life via my blog and my mini series here I am and here I share.

My life is either a lifetime drama movie, cinderella movie or a comedy. This holiday won't be any different as we embark on a holiday adventure.

I promise to share details, all of it. First stop Virginia Beach. Then off to NYC.

As I write this I included a picture of us staring at the back of a car. We are stuck in traffic. You know life sometimes feels like a stop and go maze.

The New Year is definitely motivating me to not be stop and go but one continuous, scenery, adventure filled ride.

Oh did I mention my first stop is not just Virginia Beach but my inlaws. Wait it gets better they are lovely swear but with our very different cultures I am Latina and they are Filipino we have lots of comedic scenes that are a true reality.

I promised myself I would do the unthinkable lose weight during the holidays. I will be documenting that on our fitness company blog. But here is the kicker my inlaws have no concept of weightloss. Let me explain my husband is filipino and he and his family have amazing metabolisms. I am latina and let's just say I was blessed with a whole lot of curves. But my inlaws cook all day and all night. Plus when you say no thank you its considered offensive so I sit here praying that the memory of a distant incident does not reoccur. I once gained 5lbs in one weekend at their house. God help us all.

Did I mention I'm still stuck in traffic and my husband insists I stay awake all 16 hours with him. The real adventure begins!

Burlesque: I am very definitely a woman...

Like the rhythmic beats created by congas and live music my body can defined by the curves that overflow like honey fed to the starving. It is unforgettable. Like the infamous Marilyn Monroe once echoed "I'm very definitely a woman and I enjoy it." The essence of a woman can be defined by the the reach in her arms, the span of her hips and the stride of her step like Miss Maya Angelou sang through her Phenomenal woman. Bound by religion, insecurities and what society feels a woman should look like women bow to the the constraints verses reaching and busting through to ultimately obtain universal embodiment of freedom. My body is my temple that plays songs to enchanted for just anyone to understand. I had forgotten how much fun it was to be a girl. To dress up, to paint the blank pallets known as my nail beds, and pucker up to the newest bitten lip stain.

Burlesque (the movie), although it took to long to get to the point I swallowed every cliche in the movie only because it reminded me about the beauty of living your dreams and the goddesses that we as women can embody. I felt reincarnated and motivated after the movies hip beats and flash back songs. It was an introduction into the sometimes misunderstood, but oh so delectable and tasty flirts of the DITA VON TEESE's of our age. The curves of my bodice are not easily fitted. Fact is finding clothes and shoes that make me look good is an adventure in and of itself. You have to tuck the extra goods and slim down what you can't slim down. You have to create curves where curves do not want to be created. Now for special events where the attire is formal that is much harder. I waited until the last minute to find a dress for my Husbands Marine Corps Ball. Imagine my surprise when I found the perfect ensemble that created curves and enhanced this mommy and womanly figure! It was a dream come true. It was like finding a needle in a haystack. It was like finding out you had just won the lottery (without those horror stories of where you lose all your money). It was too good to be true. Into the fitting room I had went and aaah to my delight it zipped up with out any help. This was it and she and I were a perfect pair.

The search for the perfect "ball outfit" got much better. A pair of designer Cynthia Vincent shoes completed the look. It seemed that for this occasion the dress and the shoes did make this girl!

A Travelista Lives it Up!: The Plus Sized Adventures of Bonnielee Cuevas

UGH! I just had to get away. I felt tired, burned out, and angry that my passion for my work was lacking. I needed one weekend to feel special, to feel great, to get away and get rejuvenated. I am only 29 and I know and am thankful for all that I have accomplished. But I had to admit it to myself and everyone else I was burned out at 29! The candle had been burnt at both ends and it was now or never. I had to escape. The opportunity presented itself when the Marine Corps Ball (my husband is a marine) and my sons birthday was the same weekend. I had to get away and if I had to bring the family in tow they were coming with me!

I stepped into the car at 6am and headed out to the San Destin hotel in Destin, Florida. When I arrived I felt like a princess arriving at her castle for the first time. I suddenly let go of the week and stepped into a magical place that no one was invited to but me. Selfish I know but sometimes selfishness needs to take precedence over everyone else. Sometimes you just need to escape.

I started off on my very own when I was just 17 years old. I put myself through school, built a business, and a family. So 12 years later I was feeling it and I was burned out. I just turned 29 and I decided to live my life the way I want to live it. I decided to do things that I have always wanted to do I should do. I always find that the people I run into or the people I do business with are so afraid of just living. Why are you so afraid of living? People walk around with worry tattooed across their forehead. I never want to live that way. I am young, vibrant and I know there is so much more life along the way to live.

See I also like to break barriers and reach milestones. People think that when you are full figured you can't live a full life. I eat well, I work out every other day or every day when possible. So my adventures are filled with lots of funnies and this one none the less.

I packed bright and early Friday morning and I have to tell you I always over pack! What is wrong with me. 5 bags later for only 3 days I was ready to go. I drove 2 hours to my palace and I have to tell you I am a travelista to the fullest. From the food, to the sights I took it all in. With less than 8 hours I had eaten, drank and was merry. My body thanked me I heard her talk back to me she was satisfied! I was a travelista living it up!

I had to tell you this was the best medicine.

Mutilated by Self Hate/Why I shout with my size 16 body!

I sat here this evening taking a sneak peak at the latest news stories and I was jolted by the recent news of Demi Lovato from Disneys Sonny with a Chance who has entered a treatment facility. She has entered to deal with anorexia and self cutting. I can't tell you how deeply it affected me. I have a seven year old son who watches her shows and movies on Disney. I commend her and her family for seeking help and even keep her in my prayers.

I can't help but be angry. Angry that women fail to have a positive self image. That they are molested and violated by our media. A media that fails them at every turn. What happen to a healthy image versus a skinny image. I am sick literally ill at the thought that a woman can't look in the mirror and love what she sees. I forgot why I came into this industry. All of the industries that I venture out to. I forgot my very big voice.

I don't condone obesity I condone health. We have come so far and then we take so many steps back. Who will our children and our youth be? I love fashion, style and so much more. I believe in dressing up and putting on heels. I don't believe in hating myself and thinking oh wait I need to be a smaller size to wear this totally hot outfit.

Stop the madness. Take control of your life. No one can make you feel inferior. Only you can do that. Is it a fight yes?! I fight every day as a plus size and full figured woman to stand my own and show my beauty and that I strive for health. The scariest thing you can do in life and the most liberating thing is to love yourself. Why would anyone want not want to know the joys of biting into a kiwi or pasta covered in pesto? Why would anyone want to hide in the confinements of their bedroom because they are afraid that they might be seen in public?

You let them steal your joy, you let them steal your beauty, you let them steal your identity and then you mutilate yourself with self hate. I think it's time to stand up and fight! Fight for the right to be who you are in your skin. In your perfect and beautiful skin. Black, white, yellow, olive. Fat, thin, tall, skinny, short. I pray for each and every woman out there. Break free from the chains that fill you with doubt. Don't let them shut you up. Use your voice to shout from the roof tops that no one can take that from you. That they will never take away your imperfections because that is what makes you beautiful.

I had forgotten the beauty that I could take in at every corner. I had forgotten that my fire and passion for my life and the things I loved most could be reignited by standing in front of Picasso's Woman with the Yellow Hair could move my spirit and re-inspire my love of style, my love of business, my love of life and the joy of turning 29. As I turned 29 I started to analyze my life. Am I where I want to be? Is this who I was meant to be? What is this adventure really about? I needed to be inspired. NYC my hometown did just that. As my best friend and I embarked on exploring the city I was amazed because I was looking at my city through her eyes. She lit each time she saw a skyscraper, at each turn. This was the City and the history I took for granted and yet as I looked at it through a tourists eyes I realized just how beautiful my city is. As I ventured out to NYC for this Blog series and to document my journey as I turned 29 I realized that getting older has its perks. One you are more secure in yourself and your decisions. As a business owner that is a darn good thing! It helps you be a better leader because you know what you expect out of people and you don't let them get away with anything less. You also learn to love yourself a little more the past makes you who you are today. But one of the best part of this adventure is family and friends. See even for loners how can you get through anything in life without surrounding yourself with people that care and love you!

As we set out from Pensacola, Fl to NYC it was an adventure. Planes are small and traveling as I thought would be easy. I had my tote bag and my little piece of luggage. Well needless to say it was an adventure indeed. My tote bag did not fit under the chair in the first plane because it was so small. We spent so much time shoving it underneath to fit we broke a sweat and I considered that my workout for the day. Then when we arrived in Charlotte for our layover flight we did not realize that our gate was on the other side of the concourse or better said the other side of North Carolina! We made it with 20 minutes to spare before the plane took off. When we arrived in NYC we had several people that we did not had transitioned with us on the layover they stopped us to basically tell us we had been the life of the party. One of them being a psychologist me and my friend Kristi agreed he may have just thought we needed therapy.

Rewind a few hours back our conversations consisted of the kid kicking Kristi's chair through the first plane ride. Us dancing in our seats to our sweet Ipod jams. My reading glasses breaking. Reading through the TIMES magazine Unforgettable crimes and then discussing them like we were expert CSI agents. Then the flight attendants constant running into me in the aisles and the list goes on. By the time we landed in NYC we realized we had been the loudest, and the best entertainment these people ever had. We didn't just make our own memories we made theirs as well.

Arriving in NYC! Obama was supposedly in town but we did not catch bad traffic. We got to our destination and after starving to death most of the day we arrived at MXCO and ate a delicious meal. We then went to the movies and got into a free premiere of YOU AGAIN! Awesome and ended the evening at Papaya King with hot dogs and coladas.

Lessons Learned:

- Leave the business cards at home and enjoy your vacation. Every business owner needs a vacation and I needed this feeling rejuvenated again and forcing myself not to work while on vacation.

- Good food is worth the money.

- Plan your travel better and get a bag on wheels! UGH lugging my tote was a pain I still have back pain no matter how fashionably cute I looked.

- Urban Decay All Nighter Spray is our new recommended product from 4am-1030pm my makeup never budged.

Last but not least we thought we needed therapy after being stopped by a psychologist who by the way I accidentally elbowed his wife in the head when I was pulling out of the aisle. But we realized we may pass on that life would not be this fun if we did.

Carols Daughter Illuminates My Locks

I am very honored to say that my locks are capable of truly anything. From curly to straight and vice versa. There are days it is truly not tamable. Halston is an iconic fashion house of clothing. Roy Halston the designer died in the early 90's. But Halston is a brand that lives on and is a powerful movement in the fashion world. Sometimes the unlikey characters of all are the faces behind such monsterous brands, companies, etc. Last year it was announced that SJP would be the CEO of Halston a huge achievement in and of itself. For an actress to transcend from being an actress, to producer, to head honcho of a Fashion Line. The irony is that Halston was known as the first designer to license himself. When he licensed himself to JCPenny fashion became accessible to women of all income levels. SJP has done this herself creating affordable fashion for every woman. But what makes this so special to me is that SJP is an unlikely character. I can relate to her. She has been criticized for not being the most beautiful woman yet her style transcends. She is also has her own clothing line, perfume, and production. It takes perserverance and truly knowing yourself to step into your own heels and walk proudly.

I guess my point is that if you want to be a woman on top and walk the walk remember that you may be the funny side kick for a while but when you get to shine it will be bigger and brighter than even you can imagine.

I have this aching need to take over the world and I forget that I am not Superwoman. How many of us have Super Woman Syndrome? See no one ever told me I could not do it. When I was a child I was always told that nothing could stop me. I have instilled this same thing in my son. But I wonder if that has contributed to this unrelentless need to accomplish everything and I do mean everything.

The best part of not really having doubts is that I don't doubt myself. It's kind of like an internal conversation and don't worry I am not answering myself back out loud. But it goes like this:

"hey i can fly a plane?"
"of course you can"
"where do I start?"
"take a hold of the wheel and take flight"

Not very logical sometimes but it makes the adventure that much more fun. However sometimes there is no internal filter that says wait! are you crazy why do you want to fly that plane just because you know how to does not mean that you should.

But I wonder if the adventure is ever really worth it? For me its better than ever having the regret of never trying it in the first place. I hate regrets and I don't want to be late in my life and regret never doing it in the first place. I guess I will continue on my superwoman kick and see where I end up. It's not always about the destination but about the adventure.

Attitude with a Purpose

I recently had the great pleasure of being a guest on a local women's show called L'atitude. I always have the joy of being around great women. I was on a segment about women in business and I had the pleasure of hosting a style segment with accessories from a great client of mine and the owner of Vivace Boutique in Pensacola, Florida.

The show host is a beautiful spirit named Brandy Gottlieb and a woman with a purpose!

Have you ever had a purpose but lacked the attitude to make it come into fruition. Being on the show L'atitude was a great moment for me because I was surrounded by great women in the audience. The panel had other successful women and each and every one of them did not lack the attitude to initiate their greater purpose.

Women sometimes forget how powerful their voices are. We are not meek creatures that hide behind a big bear. We are powerful, exuberant goddesses that have a voice that needs to ring proud and true. But how do you obtain this attitude. Here are my go to tips for attitude with a purpose.

- Know your cause. Don't just give off this Shera persona without a really great cause.

- Surround yourself with other powerful voices. Uplifting theirs will in turn get yours noticed.

- Stay true to who you are and who you want to become, never compromise. If you compromise that means you were never confident in your cause and all the time spent would be wasteful.

- Never burn your bridges no matter how badly you want to.

- Be confident in your own skin. I am a full figured girl. I love my curves. But that's not the only thing that defines me. I sat on a panel of beautiful women of all shapes and sizes me being the largest one there. That did not deter me it motivated me to be the best me I can be.

- Identify your style and make it work. I once knew this person who was very eccentric but it worked for her. She was poised, eloquent and loved herself enough to be confident in her attire and her style.

Faux Snake Skin Exhilarates My Fashion Sense!

All logic went out the window when I looked at my new snake skin heels. Sure I can't walk in them, and sure they are back breakers but how could a fashionable fashionistas like myself stay away from something that exhilarates my fashion sense. They are daring, they are saucy and they are part of my adventures of life. I purchased them at rack room shoes. Yes you heard me right and I am not ashamed to say it. I bought my heels at a discount store and I am proud of it!

I walked in shopping bags in hand and was in shoe heaven. This is not your Carrie Bradshaw shoe heaven it was better than that. Why? Because what she spent $600 dollars for one pair on I could have bought at least 30. This does not negate my good fashion sense. I know the value of a jimmy choo. This just made it fun for me as sometimes even the most stylish diva's are affected by the economy even when we don't care to admit it.

I walked up to the shoes and tried them on. I knew I would only wear them while I was sitting down. I knew that I would have to walk to my car barefoot and put these heels just before I arrived at any of my events. I grabbed them and bought them. He took my credit card and charged it!

What I forgot to mention was the faux tattooed soles on the shoes. They are what made me want them even more they say "make love not war". Trust me that was my goal!

I smiled and walked out hand in hand with faux snake skin that exhilarated my fashion sense. I was a daring diva and I am sure to love the adventure.

NYC Adventure Night #1: Crumbs...and more!

I was born and raised for the younger part of my life in the gorgeous NYC. I left ages ago but when I visit for business here it is a new experience for me. It is exciting because the city that I took for granted I get to take in as a tourist and appreciate every part of it. I am here in NYC for the Entrepreneur Success Tour for my Media Company Success in Heels that helps women entrepreneurs through PR, Marketing and more. I am also here to scout some locations for my Fitness company Fitness Fashionistas for a NYC location or evern a NYC workshop. I am here for about 8 days and decided to document this amazing little adventure as I take you on a daily walk with me and my adventures as business and lifestyle guru but most of all as regular gal showing you my city as I experience it from new eyes.

I travel often to NYC several times a year at least but again I always took it for granted. I arrived at Laguardia airport yesterday afternoon and hopped in a yellow cab to stay with my mom as she still lives here and that would be terribly unfair if I came to town for business and did not hang with mom!

I took some video because I always forget just how beautiful NYC is and its architecture and buildings. The video I got is nothing compared to some landmarks here in NYC but I figured I would take you on my cab ride. As I prepare for the Entrepreneur Success Tour event this Thursday my gluttonous desire to just feast on the city did not fail to start.

I had the pleasure of venturing off for a midday lunch at Blockheads on 81st street http://www.blockheads.com/ This was a yummy delectable lunch with healthy alternatives. I had a burrito but was able to substitute the burrito with brown rice and a whole wheat rap and cut some serious calories. It was cozy and small and perfect. My mom and I were able to take in some laughs with fresh ingredients enticing our palates. Now I love to eat but I have to say this burrito was pretty large and super inexpensive as for $8 I was only able to eat 1/2. It was really great mexican style food in a comfortable environment it was really hard to leave.

Later that night my mom kept talking about crumbs! She warned me though in a good way, I may become addicted. Crumbs is this delicious cake shop that has these huge!!! cupcakes that are literally like 500 calories each. I was glad we walked most of the afternoon and I cut some cals with my lunch healthy alternatives because we couldn't resist. Yes at 8pm we walked over to Crumbs located at 1379 Third Ave NY, NY 10075 http://www.crumbs.com/ . When i arrived you can see this amazing picturesque window with whimsical graphics and as you walked in the casing of delightful cupcakes just makes you feel like your 12 years old and you are in cake heaven. The colors and the surroundings in the cupcake shop were great. This cake shop is what we all dream of. Again how affordable because this cupcake was only $4 and huge! I got a cream filled, vanilla, sprinkle covered cupcake with a mochachino. Trust me I am coming back before I head back off to Fl. Crumbs was too sweet to let go if I lived here it would be my addiction.

Trust me we walked back and stepped it up because I knew I was going to eat ALL of it.

So far my first day in NYC was better than anything before because I get to experience this town from an outsiders point of view and I am enlightened, and in love with my NYC yet again as I see it in a whole new way. It makes you be thankful for all that you have. Lucky this is my life.

All I pray is I don't gain 30lbs in a week because if I keep eating like this I may have a new career eating!

Why I Love My Hollywood Intuition!

If we all had the luxuries of designer shopping we would be clothed in pure luxe. But sadly even the best of us have budget restraints. What do we do when we have what many say champaigne taste on a beer budget. Do you buy the knock offs? Sorry I say no! I say either save your pennies or shop at target. So many designers are hitting the target runway to bring designer and fashion to your doorstep. Affordability, chic and cuteness is just a car ride away.

I love the bright red doors that welcome me into the target store. My eyes light up and hope that I can look glamorous and fabulous at any of my events, a quick meeting out in town or even picking up my little guy, my son at school is possible. I have fallen in love with Hollywood Intuition. Designed by Jay Hersh Celebrity Style Expert and owner of the Hollywood Boutique Intuition she has created a line fit for a mommy goddess like me.

I snatched up her wickedly chic travel bag and boy do I love it. The picture is above. When you open up the bag it has an adorable, feminine print that excites me more than I care to admit. So with that said there are some small set backs. It is not small enough to fit in your overhead compartment. It is small enough to fit under your seat in the plane. However, if you travel in a small plane like I do when I have to leave my home here in Pensacola, Florida. I have to leave from Alabama and that plane is small! I once got away with my bag because the bag was black and my jacket was black so I covered it and walked very fast.

However, on my way back from NYC to Alabama I got caught red handed by a NYC aiport staff member and she made me check my bag. How dare she my beautiful, black and gorgeous affordable designer travel bag. I watched her get thrown into an abyss. Sadly she did not make it to Alabama at the same time I did instead she made it several hours later where I welcomed her with open arms and a thankful heart.

She recently traveled with me and my family as we traveled to visit my grandparents for Easter. She was lovely and I have to say she fits all of my girly things and event accomodates my overpacking. So if you want to look chic and still travel in style why not travel with Hollywood Intuition.

A Real Heroine

The Alice in Wonderland of my childhood fell down a rabbit hole and her nosy self got into great amounts of trouble. The alice in wonderland of 2010's film adaptation is my kind of girl. I have a son who thinks his mother can do anything. I have a son who thinks that women can do anything. I have a son who totally appreciated a female heroine in the movie Alice in Wonderland. Her coming into her true self and discovering that she must live her life and follow her dreams is definitely a lesson little boys and girls can learn.

I never had to fall into a rabbit hole to realize where I needed to be or who I was, but if I ever had to I hope my adventures are as much fun as Alice in Wonderland. On a scale of 1-10 a definite 9 on my radar. Family fun, and great big lessons for little boys and girls. My life is glamorous, and my life is fun and my life is filled with stories of mommyhood and the best one was this weekend when I sat in the movie with the hubby and son and enjoyed the delights of an adventure.

Good Customer Service Out the Window

This morning I awoke to the continued issues my husbands debit card has had for the past 7 months since our one move from one state to another. We have called the bank several times to let him know there is something wrong with his card it does not work. We are proud to not have debt all of our purchases for business, personal are debt free purchases so needless to say that we need his debit card working. My husband is military so as he treched to NC where we relocated from for some training he took the time to go into the branch there and figure out why his debit card was not working. According to the branch customer service representative an alert was put on his card to protect us from fraud. Hey we are all about the extra protection.

She said she updated the address on the card (for the millionth time) and that he was good to go. Please tell me then why his card still does not work. My poor husband has to walk around with my debit card. We share them like we are attached at the hip. This is ridiculous in todays day and age this should not be an issue. I called the bank again to no avail. Customer service continues to tell us there is nothing wrong with his card when clearly there is. No attempts were made to accomodate us and update the information on the card. We sat on hold for 30 minutes. Finally they tell us that after all of the phone calls and the ok's from them and after all of the verifications we did we now have to send in a verification form.

The fact is thank you for protecting us like this I greatly appreciate it! But how about giving us a heads up next time! How about letting us know when we call you a million times that we need to do this. How about taking the time to do your job. How can there be such a breakdown in communication in your offices that everyone is giving us a thumbs up when there is clearly an issue! This is not the first time my husband, I or my staff/team have run into this. It really boils me to the core!

I don't think that my business could succeed if it wasn't for my customer service skills and the ones that my team has. I mean really when did good customer service go out the window. When did communication break down and leave us the customers feeling helpless when you are suppose to take care of our issues that is what you are there to service the customer. I swear it feels like your good manners, christian background, professionalism all go out the window when you spend half the day on the phone to resolve an issue that should take 15 minutes.

The saddest part for me is that it will never change. It will only get worse. So I dare you the small business owner, Womapreneurs like me to develop customer service skills in yourself and your team so that customers remember that they never have to go to a competitor they can go to you because you do care about them. Case in point my husband and I have been members with our insurance company for 12 years! In those 12 years we have had only one bad experience which needless to say 12 years of great customer service trump over that 1 bad experience.

I am allowed to do it on my own

I am a proud USMC wife. I am a Semper Fi (Always Faithful) Wife. It boggles my mind when people come up to me and ask me some strange questions...which I will get to in a bit. My husband and I are proud parents and have been married for 9 years! I am used to his departures for long periods of time. It's his job and I am cool with it. My life doesn't just stop because Jimmie has to go away for a while. I am proud to be independent and I love my life. I have a beautiful marriage, home and everything a Latina Mommypreneur could dream of.

I am not saying there is anything wrong with hanging out at home and be a stay at home mommy. I did it and I loved it. But seriously please tell me why people keep asking me these annoyingly strange questions. I am about to launch and open a new location for my Fitness Fashionistas and Success in Heels company. I had the pleasure of having my grandparents come out and help me with the design of it all. We latinos are close.

One of our grand openings is Monday. For the past several weeks all I get have been getting is:

- your husband isn't here how can you do that all by yourself?
- didn't your husband mind?
- should you be doing that all by yourself?

I mean seriously we are in 2010 and I am pretty confident in that I am capable of tying my shoes, and feeding myself. I am also capable of running two companies successfully, cleaning my own windows and still looking fabulous while doing it. Marriage does not mean we give up who we are it means you enter into a partnership with your friend. This friend will support you, uplift you and share your life they married you because they loved who you were.

So as my husband said "you got this baby, you know what you are doing you don't need me to tell you what to do." Ah that is my man and I love him for trusting me enough to see myself through my own success. Because seriously I thank God every day for it because although I saw myself through it God was totally guiding me and making sure I had this right.

Super Mommypreneur

Mommypreneurs have it hard don't you think? I swear there are days when starting my morning beauty regimen seems far from my mind. No matter how much I tell other Womenpreneurs you are the brand for your company and your look is important, I know it's hard. I mean by the time I get to bed it is late. From dishes, to laundry, emails to clients, meetings, coaching, and more. Once my head hits that pillow the sun has just come up. Then guess what? I have to start the routine all over again. But I have learned many fab tricks of the trade that I think mommies should have at hand for looking fabulous, running their companies and still totally rocking and holding her Super Mommypreneur title.

Super Mommy Tips:

1- Use a brand like ponds that is a face wash and cream all at once. You save yourself one step by being able to wash your face and have it silky smooth right after without having to add face lotion in the morning.

2- Pull your outfit out the night before or on Sundays pull them out for the rest of the week. I love waking up hitting the shower, going through my beauty routine in a matter of minutes and my clothes are there waiting for me.

3- Have a go to cosmetics bag in the car. Keep your sunglasses in there, lip gloss, a spray SPF bronzer. When you get in the car by the time the kids buckle up you already have your face SPF protected with a fabulouse glow, your lips glossed and your shades on. You look like a hot mom ready to rock mommy hood and Womapreneurship.

4- Sunday night is the night to sit at your computer for 30-60 minutes and catch up on Mondays in between the laundry. Girl you have to multi-task. I automate my email responses and follow ups. I love my outlook because it allows me to preset the time and date I want that email to go out. This is a great time saver on Mondays when you need a few moments after dropping off the kids at school and you want to indulge in a cup of tea. My Mondays are smooth sailing.

5- Another great time saving tip is using a software and site called http://www.dialmycalls.com/ I use this service for my clients. If I have to follow up with them via phone I automate it through dial my calls. They already know to expect a Monday automated call and it doesn't waste their time and mine. I get the message out to them and they in turn are able to get the info I need to me.

When I was a young girl I never had Latin American shows to watch. I was born and raised in NYC. I spoke fluent Español and English. But if I wanted to identify with my Latina culture I had to watch the Latin channel. If I wanted to identify with being American I had to watch American TV. It was a battle of my cultures. I never had one show that I could identify with.

As a Mompreneur I always make sure that even when I busy typing away, meeting with clients, and creating amazing services that my sons television is limited. He always comes first. So when mommy picks him up at school and we come home we have a routine, homework, dinner with mom and dad, the bedtime ritual and then television max 1-2 hours no more! My son is half Filipino, Puerto Rican and Dominican. I always wanted him to have a fun, creative show that he could relate to. He is seven but at some point he needs to understand where he comes from so that he can know where he is ultimately going to go.

Well I have become enthralled with Wizards of Waverly Place. It is the first Disney channel show with a Latino cast/and story line and the characters on the show are Italian and Mexican. The mom is Mexican and the father is Italian. WOW! What a proud moment when I turned on the TV and my son tuned into Wizards of Waverly Place.

The show follows three kids as they train to one day become a true wizard in adulthood. It follows as they make a mess of things using their magic. But the best part for me is when the mother says a typical Latino phrase or tid bits of Español play off the characters tongue. It felt at home and it felt right as a Latina mother. It felt like wow we have come a long way. It was great to see the mix of culture and something that my son could ultimately one day relate to.

So for Moms that find themselves to busy to find out what is good TV for their kids I recommend Wizards of Waverly place. Because when I am off typing an email and following up with a client I am confident that Disney totally hit the nail right on the head this time with Wizards of Waverly Place.

I Quit the Juggling Business

In 2009 I sat there with amazing systems in place, a great team and I still found myself to be a juggler. I was not in the circus so why was I standing there all the time with multiple things in hand just keeping them from crashing down? The clock struck midnight and I did not turn into a professional juggler. Plus my back and my head hurt from all the chaos. I ditched what didn’t work and I grabbed a hold of life and business on my terms. This included letting go a few of my OCD habits. Its day 5 of 2010 and I have to tell you I feel better. Things are still being done my way but I am no longer juggling a multitude of things. I set systems in place so that I don’t have to worry about things ever! I can just sit back and watch the world for the first time in a long time.

I played Wii bowling with my little guy yesterday in the middle of the afternoon and it was only 4pm. I lost, but I was not disheartened. Being a Mamapreneur doesn’t have to be hard. I think we make it harder on ourselves. We micromanage, we think that we are SUPPOSE to work everyday, and we try to do it all. 2010 brought on transition and hope. It also brought on peace. Peace means calm. Why not find your ZEN and live in a peace. Your business will always be there I swear. If it is your passion you will always have something to do. But don’t let it consume your life so much that it becomes “work” and not your passion.

Passion I love that word. Passion creates masterpieces. Stress creates well I hate to say it garbage! You want to create art not garbage. Why am I being so harsh? Because for a long time I lived it everyday. I had and have success, a gorgeous husband if I do say so myself, an adorable son, a great family, a blessed and beautiful big home, a boxer named Roxy and all a girl could want. But I was verging on the edge, teetering slightly into stress and I by no means will ever want to create garbage. I love perfection. But before I ruined my empire and before I ruined all that I had accomplished I ditched anything traditional, grabbed the bull by the horns and turned 2010 into my year and it is only day 5!

So take the afternoon off moms, women of the world. Get a pedicure, watch a movie, play Wii with the kids, bake a cake. Enjoy your life. Then go back to your passion and continue to fuel the fire on the designated passion days. I like to call them passion days instead of work days. If it’s not a work day don’t work. Keep Year 2010 fresh and motivated so you never lose sight of why you decided to do this in the first place.

PS…juggling is not my thing and I am very glad I quit the juggling business!

As I prepare for my families arrival very soon. I am overjoyed at the festivities that will partake in my home. The best part is the food. We Latinos tend to show our love through food. It's not recommended but during this holiday season I look forward to it. The menu is planned with arroz con gandules, pollo, mofongo, and a non traditional Latino dessert red velvet cake. My son gets to experience part of his culture and know where he comes from. He is 7 and he is part Latino. I will have the traditional Latin songs and he will get ready for Santa Claus to bring his gifts. I love being who I am and knowing where I come from. They say to know where you are going you must know where you come from. I hope to continue to instill that in him. Hoping your Navidad is full of joy and blessings.

East Coast Blues

All of my travels for business are set forth with travel bags, and my husband and son NOT in tow. For the first time in our 9 years of marriage and my son’s 7 years of life I had to set out on a mini adventure solo. I was overjoyed at finally embarking off on my own and letting father and son enjoy quality time. I left on Wednesday and caught my flight in Mobile, Alabama with a connection in Forth Worth, Texas to New York City. With each stop text messages were exchanged and phone calls were made and received. Each time my husbands voice picked up or my son stifling back the tears and the words mama I love you when are you coming home?

Ugh I could feel a large lump forming in my throat and it was not from the ailments of the season that had nearly left me bed ridden. It was as simple as I missed them more than I had cared to admit as I departed off on my business trip. Truth be told my husband is military and stick together. Most of our marriage and lives have been spent away from our families so we have created our own special familial bonds. Where he goes we go. Where I go for business they go. But this time for the first time it was a solo journey.

I arrived in New York City late in the evening around 10pm with aches and pains this time from my seasonal ailments and more so because I was exhausted from the journey and missed my guys. I was suddenly developing the East Coast Blues. The journey lasted 6 days and it was the longest 6 days of my life. My East Coast Blues made my journey feel long. I enjoyed my time on this Business trip and my travels to NYC and to DC. But I learned a lesson. The best cure for my East Coast Blues was the Jimmies, Jimmie Sr. and Jimmie Jr.
